Magnesium Fluoride is an inorganic compound which finds application in manufacturing of windows, lenses, & prisms. It is known to have chemical formula MgF2 with molecular weight of 62.3018 g/mol and ethanol insolubility. This chemical compound appears as white colored tetragonal crystals having density 3.148 g/cm3 and extremely high boiling point of 2260 degrees Celsius. It can be prepared by reaction of magnesium oxide and hydrogen fluoride. Magnesium Fluoride is slightly soluble in water and has melting point of 1263 degrees Celsius. It has refractive index of 1.37, which makes it suitable to be applied as anti-reflective coating.
