Lithium Tetrafluoroborate is widely used as an electrolyte in lithium batteries for having excellent resistance to moisture and thermal stability. Appears as white colored crystalline powder, it has chemical formula LiBF4 and molecular weight of 93.746 g/mol. This chemical compound is odorless in nature which is readily soluble in water and has density of 0.852 g/cm3. Having melting point of 296.5 g/mol, it also shows solubility in non polar solvents. Lithium Tetrafluoroborate is received as a by-product of diborane’s industrial synthesis. It is highly appreciated for having ability tolerate up to 660 ppm of moisture content at room temperature.
